Darien Historical Society Events for Children

Heritage and Holiday Happenings for Children will come alive through the Darien Historical Society's monthly After-School Programs for Children throughout this fall. Designed to both educate an entertain, each program is open to youths aged 7 and older and their parents (if they choose.) Programs will take place at the Bates-Scofield House, 45 Old Kings Highway North, unless otherwise noted. Advance registration for all programs is necessary. OCTOBER

FAMILY HARVEST FESTIVAL

Saturday, October 6th, 2007 -- 12 noon to 3 p.m.

An end of the summer festival with activities for all. We will judge the best of your home grown veggies, teach harvest related crafts, enjoy Colonial food and host a scarecrow-making workshop in the front yard of the Bates-Scofield house. Reservations and guidelines for scarecrow workshop are available. Free of charge.

Get ready for Halloween by learning the art of Gravestone Rubbing. Explore the meaning of images carved on early gravestones and create a rubbing of your own. Admission fee is $10 for members; $13 for non-members. Registration is limited so please call ASAP.

HANDS-ON HISTORY DAYS 2008

July 21st - 25th, 9:30 AM - 2 PM

Darien Historical Society will once again host our very popular Colonial day camp. Projects will include Colonial crafts, games, food and authentic Colonial entertainment.

Games, Military Reenactment, Costumes, Dancing, Colonial Crafts, and Colonial Foods.

Open to youths entering 2nd grade and older by advance registration only.
